ATPL(A) Modular Course

Our Modular program is designed primarily for students that are not able to take our full-time integrated course. It gives the student greater flexibility in choosing the pace at which they would like to complete the entire course. Students go through their training in different ‘modules’.

Having completed each module successfully, a student can move on to the next one. Although it is not a recommended practice, students have the option of taking breaks in between modules for any other commitments they might have.

Let us take you through each phase of the program:

The Private Pilots License (PPL) is all that is required to commence training for the EASA ATPL. The course involves a complex of ground school instruction and flight training. This license is required to become an airline pilot.

The EASA ATPL ground school is 38 weeks studying for the 14 written examinations in a fully equipped classroom. For your comfort and to ensure you benefit the most from this course, we have it divided into three separate modules.

Here is a breakdown of the subjects offered:

Module 1 (9 weeks)
Module 2 (11 weeks)
Module 3 (8 weeks)
Air Law
General Navigation
Principles of   Flight
Communication VFR/IFR
Radio Navigation
Mass and Balance
Operating Procedures
Aircraft General Knowledge
Human Performance & Limitations
Flight Planning & Monitoring
200 Hours
270 Hours
180 Hours

Having successfully completed your ATPL ground theoretical, that is where you take to the skies. You will be flying with our highly qualified flight instructors, some with thousands of hours of experience as previous airline and air force pilots. You will also be building the solo hours required towards your commercial pilot license issuance. You greatly benefit from the opportunity to fly yourself in different environments and gaining a lot more experience. Here you will start training for your Instrument Rating, as well as your JAA Multi Engine rating.

This course is scheduled for duration of 80 weeks in total. Although this is a realistic and achievable time frame, it is always advisable in flight training to allow for more time. This would be for any unforeseen delays (bad weather, further training, etc…)

We look forward to seeing you at Vilnius Aviation Academy
